VINTAGE 2020: GOLD MEDAL MÂCON COMPETITION
Very rigorous selection of premium grapes whether during the green harvest in July or during the harvest in September (Haut Surget). Indeed, during the harvest, the latter are sorted on two vibrating and blowing sorting tables. The vinification takes place in thermo-regulated cement vats in order to better control the temperatures. Macerations in vats after vinification are long (about 4 to 5 weeks), in order to extract the best tannins and color. Aging continues in new barrels and first wine barrels for a year.
The Ollet-Fourreau family has been running various wine properties in Bordeaux for five generations and more specifically since the 1930s on the right bank of the Garonne in the Lalande de Pomerol and Pomerol appellations. Over time, the operation has been able to acquire new technologies: sorting tables, thermoregulation, new barrels… thus making it possible to meet the various qualitative requirements both administratively, commercially and personally. For many years now, the two flagship brands have been Château Haut-Surget in Lalande de Pomerol and Château Grand Moulinet in Pomerol. Without forgetting Château Lafleur Vauzelle, twin brother of Château Haut-Surget, distributed only in mass distribution.
In 1998, Château Fleur Saint Espérit, Bordeaux appellation, came to expand the range, thus offering customers a wine with excellent value for money. Today, a new appellation among the most prestigious in Bordeaux, namely the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, has come to complete the range of Great Wines with the Château du Grand Cardinal. Thanks to the work and dynamism of the OLLET-FOURREAU family, these different appellations are regularly rewarded with medals. From 6 acres in area at the beginning of the creation of the farm by its founder Paul Ollet, the Ollet-Fourreau family now farms around 40 acres.
Nowadays, you can meet 4 generations on the farm: the great-grandfather Maurice Ollet, the grandparents Marie-Claude and Jean-Pierre Fourreau, Patrick Fourreau, their father, and the grandchildren Emma and Tom.
