Almas Caviar
Caviar is a name for the gourmet diamond and it fits perfectly with the brand “Almas” which means diamond in Russian. Almas is considered the most expensive in the world. The caviar of this brand comes from Iran and obviously, it is a caviar of great rarity.
A kilo of caviar from Almas is priced at 25,000 dollars, or 37€ per spoon. No need to be discouraged though, if you’re tight on budget you can pick up a miniature version for $800.
Caviar is classified into three quality categories according to its color: the lighter it is, the better its quality (dark tone (0), medium tone (00) and light tone (000)). On the other hand, the product must be consumed as soon as possible to be able to take full advantage of its flavors. But what makes Almas caviar so special?
This caviar comes from Iranian Beluga fish. The fish is found in most of the pure crystal clear waters of the Caspian Sea, which is one of the reasons why Almas is so special. The pearly white color of this caviar is the specialty that pushes its price and it is simply amazing. Add to that a silky texture and Almas caviar becomes what it is.
A little too much history is attached to caviar. Although it may be a luxury food in modern times, you should know that it was consumed by peasants in medieval times in Russia. Caviar entered the world of luxury at the royal court during Shakespeare’s time. This delicacy has evolved and traveled around the world since that time.
