Młody Ziemniak Vodka

The latest edition of potato vodka from Distillery Chopin in Krzesko. The Młody Ziemniak vodka (young potato) is a vodka distilled only once, to preserve the full bouquet of taste and aroma. It is made exclusively from potatoes of the Denar variety, grown in Podlasie, planted at the end of April and harvested in July, valued for its high resistance to weather fluctuations, low soil requirements, and by consumers – for its taste and texture.

The nature of this year’s drink was determined by the exceptionally dry spring and early summer in Podlasie. A small amount of rainfall had a positive effect on the concentration of starch in tubers, and thus the distinctive character of the latest edition of the Młody Ziemniak Vodka (young potato).

The aromatic profile of the Młody Ziemniak 2022 is intense, clean, with noticeable notes of sweetness.

The Młody Ziemniak vodka is a unique product in terms of the production process. Compared to other potato spirits, it is distinguished by the fact that the potato distillate is not rectified. Young potatoes, as they are not rich in starch, are a much more difficult raw material for alcohol production than those harvested in autumn – one bottle of ready-made drink is made from about 50 potatoes. Single distillation requires both high-quality raw material and technological diligence. Each edition of the Młody Ziemniak vokda is made from only one potato variety and the production process is supervised by the Distillery Master – Waldemar Durakiewicz. After distillation, in order to add smoothness to the alcohol, Młody Ziemniak is aged in vats, hence the bottlings of individual vintages are bottled only in March of the following year. From the moment of its debut, Młody Ziemniak (young potato) is a vintage liquor, released in small editions, which makes it also a collector’s item.
